Am I going to want to leave Austin, probably not, am I going to anyways – well – yes.
Keeping my chin up and more importantly trying to stick to my schedule I’ll be departing from the great town of Leander where I plan (hope) to be sponsored by some fantastic people that lured me in with the promise farm fresh eggs, old cars and great personalities. Keep in mind, I’m going to be staying in Austin for a few days, so I’m going to spread my staying about. I honestly have three people lined up for lodging, so staying three days with three different people is the plan.
Before leaving for good, I absolutely had to do a little investigating into what was around – and why Texans are just so damn proud of their state. I’m hoping it’s going to be obvious to me when I pass through the town of Pflugerville – a city where money magazine rates up towards the top of the list of places to live.
So what better thing to do but go thrift shopping? I mean, if the town is full of money magazine approved residents, I’m thinking they’ll be giving away some pretty awesome stuff to thrift stores. So, to stretch my legs I will visit a few used junk “boutiques”. My guess is that will take all of five minutes, I’ve got places to go and people to see.
Heading on 130 south to 290 East (which I realized I’m going to have to see a hell of a lot of), I’m going to treat myself to a little visit to Downtown Brenham, another super Texan places to live.
Not only is it quaint, but it’s the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream – who doesn’t like ice cream?!?! I’m not going to fill my face with that though (although a photo op IS in order), I plan on stopping at a Yelp! found place called “Funky Art Cafe”. I’m a sucker for bad art, and I’m a sucker for the word funky. My mind is expecting Disco music and paint by numbers. We’ll see, we’ll see.
After getting an eye and belly full, off I go to see more (sigh) of 290 until I get to take a little leg north to 1480, the “Farm To Market”. Farm to Market what I ask?!?! Damn it Google maps, you’re no help sometimes.
From there I’m torn as to where I’m going to be staying. I don’t have solid confirmation on lodging in Houston. Help a girl out, lend a couch.
